"Inkscape": ein Open Source SVG Tool

Die "Inkscape Community" hat "Inkscape 0.42", ein Cross-Platform Open Source SVG (dem W3C-Standard "Scalable Vector Graphics" für Vektor-Grafik und Animation) Zeichenprogramm für Windows, Linux und Mac OS X veröffentlicht. Die Initiative hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, eine W3C-konforme XML, SVG und CSS2 Grafiksoftware zu erstellen.

Die Funktionen erinnern entfernt an Vektorgrafik-Programme wie "Illustrator", "Freehand" und "CorelDraw". SVG unterstützt elementare Formen, Pfade, Text, Marker, Cloning, Alpha-Kanäle, Gradienten und Gruppierung von Objekten. Darüber hinaus unterstützt "Inkscape" Creative Commons Metadaten, Node-Editierung, Ebenen, komplexe Pfadoperationen, Text auf Pfad, sowie direkte XML-Bearbeitung. Das Programm importiert zahlreiche Grafikformate, darunter EPS, Postscript, JPEG, PNG, BMP und TIFF. Es exportiert PNG und einige Vektor-Formate.
