"Wikpedia" auf dem "iPhone" und "iPod Touch"

"iPodia"

Eine spezielle "iPhone"-Web-Version von "Wikipedia" bietet "iPodia", das ein auf das Phone angepaßtes Layout sowie optimierte Suchfunktionen bietet: "iPodia is a Wikipedia viewer for your iPhone/iPod touch. With this application, you can view articles in an optimized layout, find certain text in the article, and save the article as a data URL for offline reading."

Ein Bookmark auf dem "iPhone"-Desktop erlaubt dann ganz komfortabel den direkte Zugriff.

"Wiki2Touch"

Das Open Source Projekt "Wiki2Touch" ist eine Offline-Version des Online-Lexikons, speziell für ge-jailbreakte "iPod Touch" und "iPhone" Geräte optimert: "Targeting the iPhone or iPod Touch platform this project is a reader for Wikipedia articles. The compressed backups can be downloaded from Wikipedia. Not needed data is removed and the result is re compressed. Then an index of the article names is created. The result must be uploaded to the device. Using this software you can then search and display the contents of Wikipedia off line."

Die Features umfassen:

• Very quick and easy searching including suggestions
• The result contains nearly all of Wikipedia's features: Templates, table of contents, all sort of lists, references, and so on. You get any information, nothing is omitted or hidden.
