Adobe freut sich: Mark Hamburg is back

Am 24.07.2009, nur 15 Monate nach seinem Wechsel von Adobe Systems zu Microsoft, ist der Digital-Imaging-Veteran Mark Hamburg wieder zurück bei Adobe. Hamburg sollte sich bei Microsoft um Betriebssystem-Technologien zur Verbesserung der User Experience kümmern. Über die Gründe seines erneuten Wechsels wurde bislang nichts bekannt. "His decision to return to Adobe is more a statement of desire to again work on products in the digital imaging realm rather than a more research driven project", berichtet PhotoshopNews. Nach seiner Rückkehr soll Hamburg produktübergreifend in der Digital Imaging Business Unit von Adobe Innovationen fördern und koordinieren.

Mark Hamburg ist bereits seit über 17 Jahren als Senior Computer Scientist bei Adobe Systems. Er startete seine Arbeit an "Photoshop 2.0" und implementierte die Pfad-Werkzeuge. Er fungierte bald als Software-Architekt für den Bildbearbeitungsklassiker, hat mit Adobe zusammen über 30 Patente erfolgreich beantragt und ist Co-Autor der "Photoshop Bible", die er mit Martin Evening zusammen verfaßte. Hamburg ist auch Miterfinder von "Adobe Lightroom".

Hamburg zu seinem damaligen Wechsel: "Now, given that I find the current Windows experience really annoying and yet I keep having to deal with it, this opportunity was a little too interesting to turn down. I can’t imagine doing serious imaging anywhere other than Adobe, but, I needed to do something other than imaging for a while."

"Photoshop"-Produktmanager John Nack über den Wechsel: "After 17 years on the Photoshop & Lightroom teams, Mark Hamburg left Adobe last year to join Microsoft and work on improving the Windows user experience (as he found it 'really annoying'). I'm happy to say that after that brief sojourn, he's returning to the Adobe Digital Imaging team. Welcome back, Mark!
Oh, and to ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley, who wrote at the time of Mark's departure: 'Microsoft's competitor to Adobe Lightroom gets another champion... My bet is Hamburg will be instrumental in helping Microsoft bring to market its Photoshop Lightroom competitor.'
